Choosing the right hair accessory for you…

May, 2018

Brides are always asking us for advice on how to choose the right hair piece for them, when is the best time to purchase one and where to find them? We thought it was time to answer those questions…

There are many things to consider when choosing a hair piece:

  • Are you wanting to wear your hair up or down – Some hair pieces are quite specific to one or the other with their fixings
  • Are you wearing a veil – Where will the hair piece fit around the veil
  • Style of dress
  • Tiaras, Slides, Pins, Headbands or even fresh flowers! (These still count as a hair accessory)

Fresh Flowers are a great hair accessory and can look REALLY pretty if used right. You can always purchase these yourself from a supermarket or get your florist to prepare some for you. And DON’T forget your bridesmaids:

TOP TIP – A small bunch of gypsophelia is a great and in expensive way of really finishing of your bridesmaids hair. It looks really effective in both hair up and hair down.

BRIDAL FLOWER IDEAS …

There is no right time to purchase your hair accessory however we would normally recommend you do it after you have chosen your beautiful dress! This just means that you will have the perfect idea of what look you are trying to achieve. Whether you have chosen classic, boho or a city chic dress may then affect what type of hair piece you choose. There are some obvious pieces which suit a certain look but on the other hand sometimes mixing themes works well too! If you have chosen a very classic, simple and elegant dress you may want to look at something like a classic tiara or an elegant slide. Whereas if you are going for a very boho/outdoor wedding you may want something more relaxed like a hair vine or delicate pins.

Here are some other examples of types of hair pieces that go well with certain hair styles:

CLASSIC AND ELEGANT – The use of sparkly tiaras, hair slides and hairbands…

BOHO AND RELAXED – Achieved with the use of hair vines and pins..

BUT REMEMBER !!! Sometimes you don’t even need any hair accessories. If you are trying to achieve a very City Chic wedding, these hair styles don’t always need anything – Simple is best!

MODE IS EVOLVING …

“We wanted to create a relaxing environment; a place to start new conversations, share ideas, grow and connect”

To all of our lovely Mode Clients,

Mode has recently gone under some changes within the business. Over the past couple of years Beverly, Jessica and Chloe have been building their Bridal Hair and Makeup reputation. This is a real passion of ours and so we have decided to push this area of our business further. We have also been breaking into the photographic session styling industry and our skills have won us some contracts with some major high street stores such as Bravissimo, Zoggs and WACOAL.

HOWEVER we would never forget about our beautiful loyal clients and we are not going anywhere! We have reduced our team back to Beverly, Jessica, Chloe and Amanda…Back to a family business and we couldn’t be more excited!

This now means we can spend more time with each client and offer a more special service. Our overall aim is that our salon has a family home from home feel with a professional edge.

Mode Salon Interior

To go with our new brand is our new brand identity! We have undergone a new re-fit and we are extremely happy with the results. The salon is more spacious, relaxing and has a more warm feel. (See pics below)

At the beginning of 2015, we were given the opportunity to work with a local photographic studio called Progression on some of their shoots. We were asked to do the Hair and Makeup for multiple companies including Bravissimo, Wacoal and Zoggs for their Spring/Summer 2016 catalogues.

"As a commercial photography studio we work with Mode’s hair and make up team on an almost weekly basis. Their work is second to none and we are always over the moon with the results we get. They stick to the clients’ briefs but give their expert opinion when required. On top of this the girls are so much fun to work with and can brighten up anyones day - they have the full package and would recommend to anybody."

On each day we get sent a brief to follow and on the morning of the shoot we meet the days model. The models come from all over the world; places like Canada, New York, Holland and Moldova.

The models come into Hair and Makeup first and we are given an hour or so to do our work  and then its time to shoot …

During a shoot day we are on hand to do hair and makeup top ups and assist the photographer/shoot manager with any other jobs.  We have put some of our recent work below :

Ricoh Wedding Show 2015

On Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September, the Mode Team exhibited at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry at the National Wedding Show.

Chloe started the day by doing 7 models makeup for the Catwalk Show. The models were showing off some gorgeous gowns by Sammi Lou Bridal Couture in Dunchurch, Warwickshire. The models looked absolutely beautiful on the stage.

We spent the whole day meeting and talking to hundreds of potential brides who were busy planning their weddings in 2016 and 2017.

It was lovely to meet other suppliers within the Wedding Industry and we had some lovely stand neighbours –

Sophie was our second bride in August. Sophie and Ollie chose the beautiful Wetherle Manor to get married at. The weather was a lovely summers day and so they were able to get married outdoors in-front of their guests.

Sophie and her 4 bridesmaids were a pleasure to work on in the morning. They all chose a very natural look for their makeup with nude/pinky lips and peachy blush. Sophie chose to have her hair straight with the most gorgeous gypsophelia floral head band. All of her bridesmaids who were Sophie’s sister and old school friends also wore their hair straight but with braids to pull the hair back from their faces.

We absolutely loved the bridesmaids different coloured dresses. All following a pastel colour theme.

Amelia and Peter got married at the gorgeous Menzies Welcombe Hotel in Stratford Upon Avon. They had an intimiate ceremony at Old Milverton first and some gorgeous photographs in the surrounding fields.

Millie had a total of 7 Bridesmaids and one page boy who all look beautiful in Cream dresses with pale pink sashes. 5 of the younger bridesmaids/flower girls had their hair curled and pinned back whereas the older Bridesmaids had sophisticated Up do’s.

Upon arrival at the Menzies Hotel, guests were greeted and enjoyed the sunshine in the glorious grounds of the hotel. Amelia and all of her bridal party were so lovely and a pleasure to spend the morning with. We had a beautiful suite at the hotel where we did all of the preperations in a chilled and relaxing environment.

Amelia went for a flawless makeup look accentuating the eyebrows and eyelashes. She also her hair down but with volume. This went beautifully with her floor length veil and simple but elegant gown.
